This page explains what personal data Safe Rental Guide (saferentalguide.com) handles, why, and what you can do about it. We collect as little as we can.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Unai Sampedro, an individual based in Spain who owns and runs this website. You can reach him at contact@saferentalguide.com.
What we collect and why
Messages you send us. When you use the form on our Contact page or email us, we receive your name, your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to read and answer your message. The form delivers your message to our mailbox by email; it is not stored in the website’s database. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering people who write to us.
Server logs. Like every website, our hosting provider automatically records technical data for each request: IP address, date and time, the page requested and the browser used. These logs keep the site secure and working. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a safe website.
Your cookie choice. A cookie remembers whether you accepted or declined optional cookies, so we don’t ask on every page. Details are in our Cookie Policy.
You cannot create an account or leave comments on this site, and we do not run a newsletter.
Analytics and advertising
The site uses one Google service today and plans to add a second. This page is updated on the day anything changes:
- Google Analytics, in use since October 5, 2026, to count visits and see which articles are read, in aggregate. It sets cookies in your browser to tell one visit from another.
- Google AdSense, not yet active, to show advertising. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites.
For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, these services start with analytics and advertising storage denied, and that changes only if you accept those categories in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time. Legal basis: your consent. You can also manage personalized advertising in Google’s My Ad Center, and read how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
Who processes data for us
- Namecheap, Inc. (United States) hosts the website and our mailbox.
- Google (Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC) provides the Gmail account where messages are read and, once enabled, the analytics and advertising services described above.
- CookieYes Limited (United Kingdom) provides the cookie banner.
Some of these providers are in the United States. Transfers outside the European Economic Area rely on the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. We do not sell your personal data.
How long we keep it
- Messages: up to 12 months after the conversation ends, then deleted.
- Server logs: for the period set by the hosting provider, normally a few weeks.
- Your cookie choice: up to 12 months.
Your rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation you can ask us for access to your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Write to contact@saferentalguide.com and we will answer within one month.
If you think we have handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) or to the authority in your own country.
If you live in the United States: depending on your state, you may have rights to know, correct and delete the personal information a business holds about you, and to opt out of its sale or of sharing for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information. To use any of these rights, write to the same address.
Children
This site is written for adults who rent or plan to rent a home. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
When we change how we handle data, we update this page and the date at the top.
